Green Tea For Strong White Teeth

Published:July 17th, 2010

Green Tea has lots of benefits for our overall health, but it can be beneficial for our teeth due to its content of fluoride, which strengthens teeth and preventing cavities.

The plant can absorb fluoride from the water and soil easily, and younger leaves of the plant are the richest part of the plant in fluoride content. Tea bags are not as rich in beneficial substances, so brewing loose-leaf tea is the best way to ensure effective action of all the active ingredients in green tea.

Green tea also contains high concentration of catechins. The antioxidants in catechin are capable of reducing the bacteria present in the mouth, thus reducing the risk of tooth decay and gingivitis.

Green tea extract can reduce the risk of oral cancer due to the polyphenols contained in it. Polyphenols inhibit carcinogenic bacteria.

Further studies have to prove whether we can benefit from all the ingredients green tea has to offer, but since so many processes in our bodies can be influenced by drinking green tea, we might try adding it to our diets as no side effects are associated with it.
